Fort Lauderdale, FL (June 18, 2021) – Traffic detectives have released further details after a motorcycle accident that left one man dead in the Tamarac area on Sunday evening.
Around 9:30 p.m., a 29-year-old woman driving a 2008 Chevrolet Equinox was exiting Northwest 78th Street and turning left onto North Pine Island Road. At the same time, an adult male motorcyclist on a 2021 Kawasaki Ninja was traveling southbound and approaching the 78th intersection when the woman pulled out to make a turn. The motorcyclist applied his brakes to avoid the woman’s car, causing his bike to fall onto its left side, slide across the roadway and collide with the Equinox.
Deputies with the Broward Sheriff’s Office said that both vehicles came to rest in the intersection. Tamarac Fire Rescue units were dispatched and pronounced the motorcyclist dead at the scene, though his name was withheld by BSO.
The driver involved remained on the scene to cooperate with the investigation, but the investigation into the circumstances of the collision remains ongoing.
